Growth

As I sit here in an empty room with bare walls and a blow up mattress on the ground to last me until I move out completely, I can't help but reminisce about my four college years that have been every bit of the word extraordinary. I risked a lot to come to Gainesville and transfer into the school of my dreams. I spent countless hours studying for exams in order to produce the perfect GPA to get into the University of Florida. During that time I met life long friends and attended some awesome events. My family couldn't have been any closer and I even dated a few good men. When the announcement came that I had been accepted to UF, I was surrounded by friends for the emotional phone calls. My dreams had come true, I was officially a Gator. (a family tradition) From then until this moment, I have worked harder than any other time in my life. I have received a bachelors and most of my masters (to finish in dec) in a very short time. I have made friendships stronger and created new ones. I have loved and lost. I have learned so much about myself and those around me.

Most of all, I have learned to live a little more and worry a lot less. Life is about the moments that take your breath away and they don't come along every day. I have learned that the "you wont's" should always be attempted and the "i cant's" should be saved for your geriatric days and if opportunity presents itself, take it.

As I'm writing this I am becoming emotional thinking about leaving this town that has become home. This, for me, is the end of an era. The beginning of a new chapter. And the growth I have been looking for since I moved here. I look forward to this new phase and say cheers to the last four years.

Packing for the Ultimate Roadtrip

So I'm having trouble deciding what to take on our road trip, as I will be in many different types of places during our 10 day adventure. Including but not limited to NOLA (lunch at the Ritz and site seeing), Houston (dinner out and adventures around town), Austin/San Antonio (all outdoors fun), Scottsdale (very relaxed family time) and San Diego (beach, bars, fun, fashion and friends!) With all of this in mind I have started packing but MUST stay to one bag. The following are my two choices for the lunch in NOLA at the Ritz. I will update more outfits as I come up with them, let me know what you think!

Choice #1:

H&M Dress with JCrew Belt

Choice #2:
Lilly striped skort with Ann Taylor Tank

Which one is cuter? :)

Semi-Wordless Wednesday: Camping :)

I'm not the camping type, but I have come to love it
Check out my adventures
(don't mind the no makeup and crazy hair)

Next time:

bigger tent

praying for no rain

more conditioner

more muffins, the boys ate them all so quick! :)

Courting has died...

It seems as though the older I get, the more I realize the MAN in gentleMAN has simply disappeared. It's sad to say, but I'm still waiting for the date that mimics something in an old time movie. So where have all these gentlemen gone? Who knows!! Every lady I speak with seems to feel the same way and the ones that don't are married to guys that do the things girls wish they did. I mean, call me old-fashioned but I don't kiss on a first date. If he wants it, he can ask me on a second date. And I don't expect him to be upset when I throw him the cheek. So today I asked my twitter friends to "Name things they wish guys still did on first dates." They are as follows, plus a few from yours truly....
1. Open Doors
2. Not be checking their phones
3. Walk you to your door
4. Pay for the check without that awkward me offering situation
5. Open the car door
6. Bring flowers
7. Order a bottle of wine
8. Have a genuine conversation
9. Don't ask me where I wanna go, have it planned
10. Dress up! Good Lord this isn't McDonald's.
11. You know we took forever to get ready, please notice.
12. Don't say you're going to call, if you aren't.
Trust me, we will both know if it went south and I won't be expecting or wanting a call.

Although somewhat blunt those are some things that men should try to think about before taking out a lady. By all means, I'm not saying this applies to all women because not all women will expect this. But if you are going on a date with a lady, you will know it and a lady is going to have standards.

Here's to wishing for dream dates.

Here's to hoping the actions of courting have not passed

and here's to chivalry and the idea that it is NOT dead.

The Ultimate Road Trip...

2600 miles

7 states

10 days

Yes, you read that right. My best friend and I are roadtripping from Florida to California.

Ahhhhh!!!

Are we crazy? Probably. But she is moving out there in August and we must get her there.

We have been to California twice together and had a blast both times.

I'm so excited to take 10 days to do NOTHING before I start teaching in the fall.

We are expecting the trip of a life time!

Have any of you done a cross country trip?

Any advice?

Our first trip to California back in 2006. I'm in the middle and she is on the right.

This is us in May for her graduation from UF. Go gators!
I wonder if we will be huggin that much after 30 hours in a car together? :)

Boots...Classy or Trashy?

Cowboy/Cowgirl Boots. A staple for any southern gent or belle.

It has been brought to my attention that these can be perceived as trashy, ah! No way!

There is a way to look put together with a pair of these comfy southern kicks on.

I decided to collect pictures from me wearing my boots over the last 6 years. I bought these boots when I was a junior in high school and have been rocking them ever since.

I would love a new pair, but I'm waiting for the perfect ones!

The pictures are in chronological order,

so you can see how much my fashion sense has changed over the years.

Or maybe it hasn't? :)

First up is TRASHY! hehe. this was for a date function.

i had to put it up for a chuckle!

This was back in 2008, simple blue dress with orange necklace (gogators)
this was at a bar back home, jcrew shorts with an LL Bean button down.

Casual but cute.

this is last summer as well, in Miami. heading to a country bar.

simple American Eagle (yes i said that) dress.

This was taken in Nashville last fall. It was rather cool so I wore black riding pants.

striped button down and pearls made it perfectly preppy. :)

This was the same trip to Nashville, beautiful scenery. Game day.

Orange dress with blue pashmina. :)

Thanksgiving called for a simple color palate.

Black riding pants with a black tunic. Simple and Classic.

Also proves brown and black can work together.

This was for a shoot for graduation. Brown Ann Taylor dress.

Anthro Headband and my boots!

One shoulder blue dress at the Miranda Lambert Concert.

Can't go wrong with solids and boots.

Tailgating for Chili Cook Off in Miami.

Navy dress with brown boots and pearls all day.

Love this look. Minus my crazy face. lol.

It was so fun to look back through all these awesome events that I pulled out my boots for.

They have most definitely become more of a staple in my wardrobe, but only if it's done right.

So what do you think? Boots...Classy or Trashy?

Gator Lovin

With SEC (and all the other teams) football right around the corner, I had to post something awesome I saw this weekend. A friend was in town and I stayed with her at her hotel downtown. The Hampton Inn in Gainesville is amaizng. It's not really like any other location.

When you walk into the lobby, this is laid into the tile.

It was beautiful!

Go Gators!

Go SEC!
